(Urbandale, IA) The Medicap Pharmacy® in Urbandale was acquired by GRX Holdings, LLC on Saturday, October 1, 2022. GRX Holdings is the owner of 20 other retail Medicap Pharmacy locations in central Iowa as well as a compounding pharmacy and a long term care pharmacy. Urbandale Medicap Pharmacy and GRX Holdings have had a long-standing positive relationship, and the staff are excited to merge and benefit from a larger network of support.
There are no immediate plans to change staffing or services at the Urbandale Medicap Pharmacy. The priority in this ownership transition is the customer’s health and wellness, and a big part of that is having the same faces and services available. Medicap’s phone number, fax number, and hours will stay the same, and their delivery and strip packaging services will continue as well. Having always offered immunizations to the community, this is the first year they will be participating in the partnership that GRX Holdings has with the Food Bank of Iowa. For every flu shot administered, the equivalent of 12 meals will be donated to local county food pantries.
John Forbes, owner and pharmacist-in-charge at the Urbandale Medicap Pharmacy, is thankful for the patronage of so many people over the years. “There are many mixed feelings with this sale, as I have built many close relationships with my patients as owner over the years. But I look forward to continue supporting this great team as they join the GRX Holdings family. I know that our patients will continue getting the same great service that they have come to expect from our store.”
Forbes plans to continue serving the Urbandale community as pharmacist at Medicap Pharmacy after the sale.
